Our History
The Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of St.Teresa(CSST)was founded in 1887 by Servant of God Mother Teresa of St.Rose of Lima in the town of Ernakulam in Kerala.
The people of that time were suffering from many miseries. The request by general public for education, hoping for a better tomorrow, was responded by Mother Teresa along with her sisters prophetically. St. Joseph’s school, Thrikkakara was founded in the year 1963 admitting the students irrespective of caste, religion and financial background. The school is owned and administered by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa, kerala Province. The beginning was humble with about few students and teachers. Then it flourished into a full fledged modern edifice.
The school is dedicated to the need for education of the society, providing quality education without any compromise in the values.
At Josephites of Woods, the students are shaped to be a better citizen, upholding the motto “For God and country”. The innate talents of the young minds are spotted, nourished and encouraged by the teachers.
Hence they grow up, mature in self help and care, compassion and respect for others. The institution emphasizes not in the mere acquisition of knowledge, instead they are trained to utilize their learning in real life situations.
